Department of Plant Pathology, University of the Punjab, organized an academic and industrial visit to Guard Agricultural Research & Services Pvt. Ltd. on April 16th, 2026. The visit was led by Chairperson Prof. Dr. Amna Shoaib, accompanied by Prof. Dr. Uzma Bashir and Dr. Tariq Manzoor, along with MPhil students from the department. The delegation was warmly received by Dr. Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Chief R&D of the organization, who delivered an insightful briefing on the Guard Group. He highlighted its pivotal role in hybrid seed production, advancements in agricultural research, and its contributions to enhancing crop yield and promoting agricultural sustainability in Pakistan. The visit provided students with valuable exposure to industrial practices. A comprehensive tour of the facility was conducted, during which students observed key operations, including seed testing laboratories, seed coating, grading, and packaging processes. These sessions were led by Mr. Fahad Saleem Procurement Manager at the organization, who elaborated on modern techniques and quality control measures employed in the seed industry. An interactive session focused on strengthening academia–industry linkages. Mr. Shahzad Ali Malik emphasized impactful research, future collaborations, and the importance of such partnerships in providing students with practical knowledge and supporting their professional development. Prof. Dr. Amna Shoaib emphasized the importance of industrial visits for practical learning, appreciated Guard Group’s support, and thanked their team for providing students with a valuable and informative experience.
